After a six year wait— Amazon orders the popular horror, slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer as a series.

Sony Pictures was originally tapped back in 2014 to jolt the film into a reboot but somewhere along the lines the news surrounding further development faded away.

I Know What You Did Last Summer was based on the 1974 novel written by Lois Duncan, the book was then reenacted in a 1997 box office hit film. The cast included Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Freddie Prince Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe in a story about group of teenagers who committed a hit and run and later find themselves being hunted by a mysterious fisherman attempting to kill them.

As mentioned before, the movie was a blockbuster bringing in $173 million dollars in worldwide gross sales. The sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, starring Hewitt and Prince and included Brandy and Mekhi Phifer brought in $89 million, respectively.

The series is supposed to give a more modern version of the original film, still looking to follow teenagers in a secretive town that find themselves stalked by an unknown killer a year after a fatal accident occurs in the midst of their graduation.

Sarah Goodman (Preacher) is penned as the writer and executive producer for the show while working with Amazon Studios to bring the show to the silver screen.
