Congratulations, one of our current contributors wants to interview you. We don’t usually think about it as an interview, but more of a conversation. You’ll have an opportunity to answer some questions and have conversations about topics that are important to you.

Before we get to the specifics, first an overview. Just like Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter, every invite-only contributor has a handle or channel. Many contributors like to do conversational interviews. With the advent of Zoom and other alternatives, GoodBuzz can feature interviews that would otherwise have been unlikley or even impossible.

Before the conversation/interview your interviewer should do his or her research on you, including reading your bio and checking your “socials” to see what’s up. But most importantly we want to know what you enjoy talking about and what stories you can tell.

Of course, some part of your conversation might have viral possibilities. If that happens it’s great, because our ad revenue is shared with the nonprofits the co-creators and consumers (viewers) pick. And when you share the GoodBuzz links, if you are logged in, your selected nonprofit benefits when your followers click links to your content (or any other GoodBuzz content you share, for that matter).

Not every conversation is the same, and that’s part of the fun. We never know where your conversation might go, but often you and the interviewer, (directly or through a GoodBuzz/Giving Forward intermediary) will discuss general topics and perhaps come up with questions. You are welcome to ask questions back to make it conversational.

We aren’t live (at this point in time). So, if you are uncomfortable with part of the conversation, we’ll edit it out.

Some elements that are fun to put into conversations and stories are:

Not all content can be entertaining, or educational, but those tend to be the favorites. A big win for us and the nonprofits we help is when something newsworthy is discussed during your conversation. Then we might get coverage in the press or within social media.

Of course, the questions we ask will often relate to who you are and what your current and future fans would want to hear about.

If you are an actor, the conversation may involve little-known interactions with other actors, including bloopers or a fun backstage story.

If you are in sports or music, then the stories may revolve around those categories. However, crossover stories and real-life stories are sometimes even better.

The GoodBuzz team and your “interviewer” the content co-creator will typically post one shorter, snackable part of the conversation with a link to the full conversation.

While we welcome “difficult conversations” and important topics, we try to stay away from negative stories unless they have a moral to them. Try to think whether the conversation would end up on John Krasinski’s “Some Good News” or not. We can certainly tackle topics he might not, but if we tackle hard topics we want to make them educational and inspirational.
