Carrie Underwood’s first Christmas album, My Gift, will be released September 25 with 11 holiday classics sure to bring some cheer.
With just 3 months remaining until Christmas, it’s safe to say we all need something to lighten the mood of a turbulent year. Thankfully, country music star Carrie Underwood is back from her smash hit platinum album Cry Pretty (2018) to present her first Christmas album, My Gift. The album consists of 11 tracks and two features– including “Sweet Baby Jesus”, “O Holy Night” and “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”. Underwood also adds the likes of John Legend on “Hallelujah” and Isaiah Fisher on “Little Drummer Boy” to assist her.
Underwood has been on fire ever since her win on ‘American Idol’ back in 2014 and shows no signs of slowing down with 7 GRAMMY’s to her name; Additionally, her past 8 albums have either been platinum or multi-platinum and she holds the title for the most CMT wins with 20 awards. Her accolades and talent are undeniable so it is only fitting that her Christmas album is one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year. Since the wrapping of the Cry Pretty tour she has had her eyes set on releasing this album.
“I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection.” Underwood continues. “For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”
Seeing as she has released multiple holiday singles including “What Child Is This”, “The First Noel” and “O Holy Night”, the country singer’s release couldn’t come at a more perfect time.
She shares her excitement with fans in telling them, “The songs on #MyGift are a mix of Christmas classics that are close to my heart and new songs that I hope will become close to yours.”
This is sure to be a gratifying time for Underwood considering she just took home an award for the 2020 ACM Entertainer of the Year (tying with Thomas Rhett, respectively) this past week. Underwood also announced the launch of her own radio show, XO Radio, on Apple Music this past month.
Pre-orders of her Christmas album and special merchandise are available on her website. My Gift is set to be released September 25 and the vinyl edition will be released on October 30. Pre-orders on the vinyl are yet to be announced.
