Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made a generous $130,000 donation to CAMFED, an African girls’ education charity.

The fundraiser with CAMFED was started by fans of the couple who call themselves the “Sussex Squad”. The money was raised through a fundraiser and was in honor of Harry and Meghan’s birthdays (September 15 and August 4).

The Squad initially raised $129,000 from public donations, the Duke and Duchess decided to match it with a personal $130,000 donation. The money will go a long way in helping young women across Africa obtain a higher education.

The two are familiar with CAMFED, as it is a partner of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust which Harry and Meghan served as president and vice president. The couple have since stepped back from these positions after taking leave of their royal duties.
