Gaga’s 911 – So brilliant! Homage to Wizard of Oz

Art comes in many forms and one artist that consistently mixes forms flawlessly is Lady Gaga. I came across her new video for 911 and found it visually stunning and of course musically interesting. However, the real genius of the video is the fact that you have to go back and watch it over and over again.

That’s the case with Lady Gaga’s 911 from the newly released Chromatica album.

No spoilers except in my opinion it takes inspiration from the Wizard of Oz. But it goes beyond the Wizard of Oz because the references in the last minute force you to go back and watch the rest of the video over and over. The video is also reported to have been inspired by the film “The Color of the Pomegranates.” Looking at still shots from that movie I can see the references.

Musically, it reminds me of some of the best of “Army of Lovers” Crucified perhaps. LOL. I see strange connections.

Brilliantly directed by Tarsem Singh, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
